How do I write a blog post?
Updated October 26, 2026
The short answer
Open Blog in your dashboard and click Write a post. Add a title, write or paste your post, and click Publish. It goes on your website's blog straight away, or on your guide if you keep your own website.
Write and publish a post
Not ready yet? Click Save draft. Drafts stay in your dashboard and aren't on your site until you publish them. We also save your draft every so often while you write, and you can press Cmd+S (or Ctrl+S) to save it yourself.
- Click Blog in the menu, then Write a post.
- Type a title, then write your post. You can paste from Word or Google Docs: headings, bold, italics, lists and links come with it.
- Use the toolbar for headings, bold, italics, lists, a quote or a link.
- Add a cover photo if you'd like one. It's optional.
- Click Preview to see the post exactly as it will look on your site.
- Click Publish. The post is on your site straight away, with a Blog link in your menu once you have a post.
Add a picture, video or divider
- Click in your post where it should go.
- Picture: click Picture in the toolbar and choose a photo from your computer. Then describe what it shows in a few words, for people using screen readers and for Google. Click the picture later to change that description or remove it.
- Video: click Video and paste a YouTube or Vimeo link. The video plays right in your post.
- Divider: click Divider to put a thin line between parts of your post.
How your post shows up in Google
Under Search & sharing you can see how your post will look in Google results. Everything there is optional: we fill it in for you if you leave it blank.
- Address: the end of the post's web address. You can change it until you publish; after that it stays the same, so links to the post keep working.
- Search title: the title Google shows, if you want it different from your headline.
- Summary: the short description shown in Google and when the post is shared.
Good to know: Wrote this post a while ago, maybe for another site? Set Date to the day it was first written. Leave it blank and the post is dated the day you publish it.
Edit, unpublish or delete a post
Every publish is saved in History, like other changes to your site, so you can put an earlier version back.
- Click Blog, then Edit next to the post.
- Make your changes and click Update post.
- To take it off your site but keep it, click Unpublish. To remove it for good, click Delete post.
Where your posts appear
- If we host your website: on your site's blog, at yourpractice.com/blog.
- If you keep your own website: on your guide, at guide.yourpractice.com/blog, beside your site. Your own website doesn't change.
- Posts from your old site that we brought over when your site went live are listed too, and you can edit them the same way.
