How do clients contact me through my site?

Updated October 15, 2026

The short answer

Add the link to your own secure contact form (from SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, IntakeQ, Hushmail and others) and your site shows a Send a message button. Or add an email address and visitors get a button that opens their own email.

Your own contact form (recommended)

If you don't have a booking link, your contact page then shows a Send a message button that opens your form. With a booking link, the booking button comes first. Messages go straight to you there, never through us.

  1. Copy the link to your contact form from your practice software or secure email service. In Hushmail, that's your secure form's web address.
  2. Open Booking & contact in the menu.
  3. Paste it into Your contact form and save.

Already on your old website?

When we build your site we look on your current website for a contact form and an email address. Anything we find is filled in already in Booking & contact, with a note saying which page it came from. Change it or clear it if it isn't the one clients should use.

Or an email address

If you don't have a form, type an email address in Or an email for messages. Visitors get an Email me button (or Email us if you write as a group) that opens their own email, already addressed to you. Your address is shown on the page, and we ask visitors to leave out health details until you talk privately.

Why we don't collect messages ourselves

Messages from clients can include health information. Keeping them between you and your client, through tools built for that, is safer for everyone.

If your form software gives you code instead of a link

Some services, like Hushmail, offer a piece of code to put on a website. Look for the form's own web address instead (it starts with https://), often under “share” or “link”. If you can't find it, send the code to us through Support and we'll set it up.

Crisis information

Your contact section always reminds visitors that messages aren't read around the clock, and gives the crisis line: call or text 988 in the US, or Lifeline on 13 11 14 in Australia.
