How do I create a Google listing?
Updated October 12, 2026
The short answer
Go to business.google.com/create, use your practice's name exactly as your website does, choose the category we suggest, add your address or the area you serve, and verify it. Then paste in the description and services we've written for you.
Step by step
- Open Google listing in your dashboard and choose We don't have a Google listing. The page then shows these steps with your own details filled in.
- Go to business.google.com/create and sign in with the Google account you want to own the listing.
- Type your practice's name exactly as your website shows it.
- Choose the category we suggest (often Psychotherapist or Counselor), then add the others we list.
- Add your office address, or choose to show only the area you serve if you don't want your address public.
- Verify it the way Google offers: a video, a phone call, a text or a postcard. It can take a few days.
- Paste in the description, services and hours from your Google listing screen.
Good to know
- Use the same name, address and phone number everywhere: your website, Google and your directories. Matching details are what Google trusts.
- Google's rules are for practices that see clients in person. If you only see clients online, Google may not allow a listing; your website and directory profiles matter most then.
- New listings can take a few days to appear on Google. Once yours does, come back and click Actually, we do have a listing.
