Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the patterns keeping you stuck

If your thoughts and habits keep pulling you into the same hard place, I use cognitive behavioral therapy in a practical, down-to-earth way. We’ll look at what’s happening between what you think, what you do, and how you feel.

How I use it

I use cognitive behavioral therapy to look closely at the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions as they show up in ordinary situations. The work is practical and specific, with attention to what keeps a problem going and what gets in the way of change. Depending on your needs, CBT may be used alongside medication management or other approaches. I keep the focus on the parts of life that are actually affected, not just on ideas in the abstract.

We focus on the patterns that show up in your actual week.

Who it tends to suit

People often come in because they can see the same unhelpful loops playing out again and again. The loop might look like worry, avoidance, self-criticism, or shutting down when stress builds. It can be frustrating when you know something isn’t helping but still feel pulled into it. These patterns can affect sleep, relationships, work, and the way you talk to yourself. Sometimes the hardest part is realizing how automatic it has become.

  • I keep falling into the same pattern.
  • I know what I should do, but I don’t do it.
  • My thoughts keep turning against me.
  • I get stuck in my head and lose the whole day.

What the first sessions look like

The first sessions focus on what’s happening in real life, which patterns you want to understand, and where you feel stuck. We’ll talk through situations from your week, choose a starting point together, and put words to it as we go.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I reply as soon as I can, usually within 1 business day.

Questions people ask

Is CBT just about changing negative thoughts?

No, it’s also about the habits and situations that keep those patterns going. We look at what happens in everyday life and what you want to do differently.

Can CBT help with mood concerns?

It can be part of the work for both, depending on what’s going on for you. We would talk about the patterns that are most affecting your day.

Do I need homework or worksheets?

Not necessarily. The work is practical, but what we do between sessions depends on your needs and what fits your life.

What if I’m not sure what my patterns are yet?

That’s fine. We can start with recent situations and look at them together until the pattern starts to come into view.
