# How do I change my headline or what Google shows?

Ask in Your website: “Change the headline to …”, “Change the page title Google shows to …” or “Change the line under the headline to …”. Keep what you help with and where you are in them: those words are what Google reads first.

## Three different things

| What | Where it shows | Ask |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The headline | The biggest words at the top of your home page. | “Change the headline to Calm, practical help for anxiety in Park Slope.” |
| The line under the headline | Right below it, and often in Google results. | “Change the line under the headline to …” |
| The page title | The blue link in Google results, and the browser tab. | “Change the page title to Anxiety Therapy in Park Slope / Marin Okafor.” |

## Tips

- Name what you help with and where: “anxiety therapy in Park Slope” helps people find you; “Welcome to my practice” doesn't.
- Keep the page title under about 60 characters, or Google cuts it off.
- Asking for a warmer or friendlier headline keeps what it names unless you say otherwise.
- Google takes a few days to a few weeks to show a new title.
